Turkey to exhibit Persian artifacts

Turkey's Topkapi Palace Museum is set to mount an exhibition of ancient Persian objects and artworks, in the historical city of Istanbul.

10,000 Years of Iran Culture, Art and Civilization will kick off on Dec. 1st, 2009, showcasing artifacts from different historical eras, IRIB reported.

Some 149 pieces from the National Museum of Iran will be displayed during the exhibition, including 58 prehistoric and 48 Islamic artworks, and 12 historical inscriptions.

Visitors will have the chance to see Persian clay tablets, pottery, and textiles as well as glass, stone, silver and golden objects from various historical and archeological sites such as Susa, Sialk, Marlik and Choqa Zanbil.

The three-month exhibition will also present 100 Persian artifacts from Turkish museums.

Topkapi Palace was home to the Ottoman rulers for nearly four centuries and houses various artworks and historically significant pieces, including paintings, miniatures, porcelain, armory, garments, books, maps and documents.
