An Exhibition of illustrations from “Shahnameh” (The Book Of Kings) is held until September 3 at the Royal Ontario Museum of Canada (ROM).
The exhibition includes works by Iranian artists from the past, illustrations from different chapters of Shahnameh, and specially from the “Shah Tahmassebi” version.
This exhibition brings together specimens of Shahnameh illustration preserved at McGill University, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, and the ROM.
“Shahnameh is a poetic reflection on the nature of kingship and celebrates legitimate rule, justice and good governance while deploring the cruelty of fate and pointing to the transient nature of power and glory”, said a spokesperson of the ROM .
