Iranian and Cuban Artists showcase work in New York

Roya Khadjavi Projects, a New York based gallery presents IRAN X CUBA: Beyond the Headline, a group exhibition that celebrates the diverse work of emerging Cuban and Iranian artists side by side for the first time in the United States.

Forgoing the jargon of headline news, this exhibit reintroduces the often over-looked people, culture and artistic vibrancy of Cuba and Iran.

The exhibit opened on May 3rd and will be running through May 15.

IRAN X CUBA: Beyond the Headline presents over 50 works spanning interactive installations, satirical political poster art, painting, drawing, photography, mixed media and sculpture by artists Sasan Abri, Mimi Amini, Camino Al Eden (Alex Hernandez and Ariamna Contino Mendoza), Ali Chitsaz, Adrian Fernandez, Alex Hernandez, Kamyar Kafaei, Amir Nasr Kamgooyan, Maryam Khosrovani, Glenda Leon, Frank Mujica, Allahyar Najafi, Reynier Leyva Novo, Ivan Perera, Behrang Samadzadegan, Leslie Sardinias, Myriam Quiel Tami, Hoda Zarbaf.

The exhibition uncovers the extraordinary creative talent–largely unseen in the United States to date–that quietly exists in both countries.
